Welcome back to Olarte-Coaching!

One of the questions that many of my clients often ask me is about sports nutrition. In order to achieve optimal results (weight loss, muscle mass gain, hypertrophy, definition, etc.), you must first understand this interesting article and learn with me to get to know your body really well in order to achieve optimal results in a reasonable amount of time.

Nutrition is an important factor for athletic performance. The aim of sports nutrition is to provide an adequate amount of energy, to supply nutrients for the maintenance and repair of tissues and to maintain and regulate the body’s metabolism. The most important macronutrients for the athlete include carbohydrates, the intake of which is adjusted according to training, the week before the competition, the day of the competition and recovery. Another key aspect is ensuring adequate hydration, for which it is essential to implement plans tailored to individual needs as part of the training program. Finally, it is important to consider the use of nutritional supplements in athletes based on current medical knowledge in order to benefit from them and avoid health and doping risks.

In this blog, we will cover the following points in more detail in future posts:

Macronutrients for sport:

  • Carbohydrates
  • Carbohydrates during the training phase
  • Carbohydrates in the week before the competition
  • Carbohydrates before (hours, minutes) the competition
  • Carbohydrates during the competition
  • Recovery of muscle glycogen
  • Protein in an athlete’s diet
  • Fats in an athlete’s diet

Fluid intake and sport:

  • Thermoregulation during physical activity
  • Functions of water during physical activity
  • Mechanisms of heat loss during physical activity
  • Effects of dehydration on health and athletic performance
  • Drinks for sport
  • Nutritional supplements for athletes
  • Type A supplements: approved for energy or nutrients, scientifically proven benefits
